Corey Hines enters his first season at the helm in Salem in 2025-2026
Hines is a passionate leader and mentor with over 20 years of experience working with youth and developing athletes both on and off the court. From 2023 to 2025, he served as the Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at Glenville State University, where the team earned a runner-up finish in the Mountain East Conference.
Prior to that, Hines was the head coach of the Fairmont Senior High School Lady Polar Bears from 2010 to 2023. During his 13-year tenure, he built one of the top high school basketball programs in the state. Under his leadership, the Lady Polar Bears captured eight sectional championships, nine regional championships, and made nine trips to the WVSSAC State Tournament—finishing as state runner-up four times and winning state championships in 2017 and 2019. His coaching excellence earned him numerous accolades, including Coach of the Year honors from the WVSACA, the National Federation of High School Coaches, and the Big 10 and NCAC Conferences.
Hines is also the co-founder of the WV Reign AAU Basketball Club and has made a lasting impact through community involvement. He has organized several charitable events, including the Joseph Harold Memorial Scholarship All-Star Basketball Game, Battle of the Badges, and the American Cancer Society Polar Bear Fundraiser.
A Michigan native, Hines lettered in multiple sports during high school before earning a basketball scholarship to Ohio Valley University, where he stood out as an athlete. He completed his education at Fairmont State University and Destiny College International, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership, with a concentration in Life, Leadership, and Business Coaching.
